CPU brand, model and cores
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Click Performance, then CPU.
- Top right shows the model, like "AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D" or "Intel Core i5-13600K". The first word is the brand.
- Below the graph, Cores is the number the scan wants. Don't use Logical processors; those are threads and usually double.
RAM
- In Task Manager > Performance, click Memory.
- The big number top right is your total, like 16.0 GB or 32.0 GB. Speed is also there if you're curious.
Graphics card
- In Task Manager > Performance, click GPU 0 (and GPU 1 if you have it).
- Top right shows the name, like "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070".
- Laptops often have two: an Intel or AMD "Graphics" chip and a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD card. Enter the dedicated one.
Windows version
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Under Windows specifications, Edition says Windows 10 or Windows 11, and Version shows the update, like 24H2.
Quick way: press Windows + R, type winver, Enter.
Monitor refresh rate
- Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display.
- Choose a refresh rate shows the current value, like 144 Hz.
- If it says 60 Hz on a 144 Hz monitor, open the dropdown and pick the highest. Use a DisplayPort cable if the higher rates don't appear.
Laptop or desktop
If it folds shut and has a battery, it's a laptop. Pick that in the scan, because laptops handle power and graphics differently.
Want to go further?
The steps above are the settings Windows and your driver show you, and they are worth doing either way. Underneath them is a deeper layer of Windows scheduling, input, network and storage behavior that the normal menus do not expose. That is what Fastplay builds for, from a team working on gaming regedit optimization since 2015, with modules developed and tested over years. See what each module does.
