What is a gaming regedit?

A gaming regedit is a small file that changes Windows settings so your PC puts your game first. It isn't a cheat and doesn't touch game files. Make a Windows restore point before applying one so you can roll back any time.

Free tips you can do right now

Before changing anything, make a Windows restore point first (search "Create a restore point" in Start).

  1. Turn on Game Mode. Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > On. It tells Windows to put your game ahead of background work like updates.
  2. Use a performance power plan. Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode > Best performance. On laptops, plug in first.
  3. Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings. Restart after. Test it on and off, some PCs feel better without it.
  4. Set your game to High performance GPU. Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add the game's .exe and pick High performance so laptops use the dedicated GPU.
  5. Turn off mouse acceleration. Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Additional mouse settings > Pointer Options > untick Enhance pointer precision. Your aim moves the same way every time.
  6. Close the background stuff. Quit browser tabs, launchers and RGB or overlay apps you don't need while you play. Check Task Manager > Startup apps and disable what you never use.
  7. Update your GPU driver. Get it straight from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel. Do a clean install if you've had issues.
  8. Set your monitor's refresh rate. Settings > System > Display > Advanced display > Choose a refresh rate. Pick the highest your monitor supports.

What a regedit is not

It isn't a program that runs in the background, it doesn't change your game, and it doesn't give you aim help. It's just Windows settings.

How to stay safe with any regedit

Only use files from a source you trust, make a restore point first, and read what a file does before you run it. Random files from comment sections are a bad idea.

Free vs custom

The free tips above cover the basics everyone should do. A custom build is set up for your specific PC and games, so you don't have to research it yourself.
